What is the Youth Community After School Program?
The Youth Community After School Program is a non-profit after school program dedicated to providing educational services to students after the last bell has rang for the day. Sponsored by Chevron, Terrebonne Economic Development Authority (TEDA), and Terrebonne Parish, the program focuses on the communities and districts within the Terrebonne Parish School System.
Operated by Diana Collins, she staffs the program with existing teachers and paraprofessionals from the Terrebonne Parish School System. Her staff are dedicated to providing tutoring and mentoring to each student registered in the program. The after school program runs the same length of a school year, including all breaks.
Tutoring
Students enrolled in the program are to bring their assignments with them to the program. Homework help is provided, as well as tutoring in areas they may need more help in. The staff are employed within the Terrebonne Parish School District, therefore they are familiar with the curriculums being taught.
Activities
Students will participate in different activities put on by the program. For example, the annual Christmas Program.
Arts & Crafts
After their homework is complete, students have the opportunity to participate in arts and crafts. They will be able to color color sheets, create their own drawings, etc.
